Grounds For Divorce
Grounds for Divorce
Ohio is a no-fault state, meaning one party does not have to show they deserve to get a divorce. Essentially, if you want a divorce, the State of Ohio will give you one. Other states require a showing of infidelity or abuse, but Ohio does not.
There are a number of different grounds for divorce, but the most common is incompatibility. If you feel you and your spouse are no longer compatible enough to have a healthy marriage, Ohio will let you get divorced. In fact, Ohio does not even ask for the details of why the marriage is being terminated. Ohio is concerned about the children, the money, and the property and how it will be divided and is not concerned about why you want a divorce.
